Jeff Hardy Sheriff Putnam County Sheriff’s Office Palatka, FL
Sheriff Hardy, I read the press release you issued today, squelching the false rumor that skeletal remains of HaLeigh Cummings had been found. I am a little confused by the language of the press release because it is rather ambiguous. Each time you issue a press release, you never actually say you are looking for ‘HaLeigh’s’ body. I personally understand why you can’t say that - but the releases are confusing. Does the Sheriff’s Office plan on telling the public about the actual homicide (of an adult) you are investigating, which is connected to persons of interest in the Cummings case? Each time you make these press releases, you neglect to mention the homicide of an adult that took place right around the time HaLeigh vanished. I think the public would be less confused if you would at least provide basic details about the homicide investigation being conducted for the murdered adult. Each time these statements are made by law enforcement, rumors start about HaLeigh because the press releases never mention the murdered adult. Respectfully yours, Timothy Charles Holmseth Investigative Author |
